Melbourne Wholesale Market opens “Super Saturdays"
Published on 23 December 2025
For the first time, everyday Melburnians will be able to shop the Melbourne Wholesale Market like the industry does, with the launch of Melbourne Market Super Saturdays - a new Saturday morning market offering bulk fresh produce and flowers at super value, direct from growers and wholesalers.
Launching on 31 January, Super Saturdays will open the Melbourne Wholesale Market in Epping to the public every Saturday morning, providing families, food lovers, and communities with access to the same high-quality fruit, vegetables, and flowers traditionally reserved for retailers, greengrocers, and hospitality buyers.
Unlike traditional farmers’ markets and retail outlets, Super Saturdays is focused on bulk buying, with produce sold by the box, tray or bunch, delivering better value and fresher food.
“Melbourne Market is the heart of Victoria’s fresh food supply chain, and Super Saturdays is about sharing that with the wider community,” said Melbourne Market Authority CEO, Mark Maskiell.
“It’s a great opportunity for families or friends to come together, buy in bulk and share the value.”
The initiative comes at a time when cost-of-living pressures are front of mind for many households, offering a new way for families to stretch their food budget while continuing to support Victorian growers and wholesalers.
The Melbourne Market is also home to the National Flower Centre, Melbourne’s premier wholesale flower market, meaning shoppers can expect a wide range of fresh flowers, straight from the grower and available at wholesale prices.
Super Saturdays will also feature food trucks, cafés, and specialty food stalls, allowing visitors to enjoy coffee, breakfast, or lunch while soaking up the unique market atmosphere, transforming the Melbourne Market into a vibrant weekend destination.
Melbourne Market Super Saturdays will run every Saturday morning until the end of April.
