Funfields Theme Park Celebrates 40 Years of Family Fun and Adventure!

This year marks a major milestone for one of Victoria’s most iconic attractions — Funfields Theme Park is proudly celebrating 40 years of unforgettable experiences!

What began in 1985 as the Alpine Toboggan Park has grown into Victoria’s largest theme park, delighting generations of visitors from Melbourne’s northern suburbs and beyond. Since rebranding to Funfields in 2005, the park has continued to evolve, offering a dynamic mix of wet and dry attractions across its stunning 15-hectare site in Whittlesea.

Family-owned and operated since the late 1980s, Funfields began as a simple toboggan run on a hill, surrounded by paddocks and bushland. While the park and the surrounding region has transformed significantly over the decades, one thing has remained constant: Funfields is a place designed for family fun. That founding spirit continues to shape the park’s identity today.

From thrilling water slides and the popular wave pool to the classic downhill toboggan and family-friendly rides, Funfields has something for everyone — no matter your age or adventure level. With the recent addition of exciting attractions like the Lazy River and Cyber Drift bumper cars, the park continues to innovate and expand its offerings, ensuring every visit is fresh and full of fun.

Funfields is more than just a theme park — it’s a pillar of the local community and a major visitor destination in the City of Whittlesea. Open from November to April each year, the park draws over 200,000 visitors per season, creating a significant economic impact for the region.

Equally impressive is Funfields’ commitment to local employment. Each season, the park provides jobs for around 250 staff, most of whom are local youth. Through a strong recruitment, induction, and training program, Funfields offers valuable work experience in roles such as food and beverage, retail, ticketing, ride operations, and lifeguarding — all while fostering a safe and welcoming environment for guests.

With on-site café options and spacious picnic areas for families to bring their own food, Funfields is the perfect destination for a summer day out.
